About Dr. M.V. Shetty Memorial Trust (R)

Late Dr. M.V. Shetty, MS, FRCS, FRFPS, was a distinguished figure known for his exceptional contributions across multiple domains. His professional excellence in surgery, coupled with a deep involvement in rehabilitation, set a remarkable precedent. Dr. Shetty assumed leadership roles in the state-run institution of Home Guards and worked as a dedicated surgeon at the first private Surgical Specialty Hospital in Dakshina Kannada District. As a Distinguished Professor of Surgery at KMC, Honorary Medical Officer at Government Wenlock Hospital, Director of the Lions Limb Centre, and Commandant of the D.K. Home Guards, he left an indelible mark on the healthcare and community service sectors. Dr. Shetty’s profound dedication and humane approach garnered respect from patients, colleagues, fellow doctors, students, and the general public. Beyond his medical prowess, he was known for his love of music and proficiency in playing the tabla, and his warm, understanding demeanor endeared him to students and peers alike. His legacy continues to inspire and uplift the fields he touched.

About the Founder

Dr. M. Rangopal Shetty MS, FICS, FICA

Chairman & Managing Director

Dr. M. Ram Gopal Shetty, established Dr.M.V. Shetty Memorial Trust in 1985 inspired by his father, Dr. M. Venugopal Shetty.

Dr. M. V. Shetty Memorial Trust was established by Dr. M. Ramgopal Shetty, who served as the Secretary and Executive Officer of the Trust. Dr. M.R. Shetty was a prominent figure closely associated with academic institutions such as Mangalore University and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences from their early days. He contributed significantly to the vocationalization of courses, particularly in the allied medical field within the framework of university education.

Dr. Satish.K has pursued his Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing. He has been awarded with the Ph.D. in Speech & Hearing at Mangalore University in 2021. He has worked as a Project Assistant at AIISH, Mysore and also been a Lecturer at JSS ISH, Associate Professor & Principal at Sweekaar Institute of Speech and Hearing, Secunderabad, and CCC-SLP at USA. Worked as an Asst. Professor, Associate Professor and currently working as a Professor & Principal at Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Speech & Hearing.

Dr. Satish.K is an active researcher and has guided more than 100 dissertations and published more than 80 researches. He has published various Monographs and Books, and has been appointed as a peer reviewer for international journals. More than 100 research articles published in National and International Journals. He has been into Clinical Supervising and Teaching in Speech and Language Pathology for BASLP & MASLP and PhD coursework.

Dr. Satish K published a book on “Code Mixing and Code Switching in Bhojpuri speakers”. He has organized workshops, seminars, conferences, school screening camps, and awareness programs. He also worked as a co-ordinator of the All India Course Coordinator and Expert Committee (Speech & Hearing) meeting held at Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Speech & Hearing, Mangalore, sponsored by the Rehabilitation Council of India.

Apart from academics, he participates as a technical official in State and National-level wrestling events in and around Karnataka and beyond.
